Every Sunday when we’d sit down to dinner, Isobel would perform her two most iconic jokes. One was, after staring at each of our overpiled plates, “I’m sorry you’re off your food!”. And then whilst pouring her gravy she’d laugh and say “My house boy used to call this ‘grief’”. Both phrases are still used every time we have a roast, and they always will be.
